We are getting water with a foul smell and impure nature from the BMC water supply in B ward (Locality - Sarang Street) of Greater Mumbai . This is happening since last 4-5yrs. Will necessary action be taken in this matter?
Water and lakes, which supply drinking water to 20 million people, are poorly amd haphazardly maintained. In additon to all these cobweb of rules and regulations for giving water connections force people to go for illegal water connections. These brings in corruption which spread to the management of the even societies. Cleaning of water and management must start from top. Ashwin I Mehta
The water supplied by Mumbai Municipal Corporation is good for drinking after using a conventional UV Water Purifier. The water supply is reliable. The taste of water is good. Water is not hard. Managing water supply to a Megalopolis like Mumbai is not an easy job, but the Municipal Corporation is trying to do their best to overcome water loss due to theft etc.

Water supplied by BMC is of good quality and supply is regular. However BMC may consider reducing water wastage on account of pipeline failure or valve failure by adopting Preventive Maintenance System for water supply lines as most ware installed long time back. BMC may also consider replacing old and worn out pipelines with concrete lined pipes the technology for which is available locally. Another step would be to do water accounting to find out theft of water area wise and take remedial measures.
