Delhi Police

Delhi Traffic Police do a very good job of ensuring flow of traffic when they do it manually at major junctions during peak hours. Other than that their performance is poor and it is primarily because of their lax enforcement & neglect that Delhi's traffic has gone to dogs during last almost 10 years.

100% agree, working position of Police is worst with no limit on working hours.
do not blame for every thing to police.
we are also responsible for their behavior.
just consider-do you ever offer a cold water to Police man whenever he visit your locality in hot conditions or tea in winter ......

sir the place where i reside is very congested & traffic is very heavy - it is PEERAGARHI , if your force is under pressure from authorities only then the police men are seen controlling traffic otherwise it is a mess. At all four sides of the crossing commercial vehicles , Gramin sewa & mini buses are parked and halt for customers, road side vendors & shop owners are blocking footpath & side road, commercial cars are parked on main & side road of peeragarhi towards EKTA ENCLAVE side. two wheelers are driving to opposite side. the irony is that police picket is also there but they are busy otherwise.

virtually no control over blocking of footpath, illegal parking of vehicles/ buses/ four wheeler/ gramin seeva/ e rickshaws at peera grahi crossing and peera garhi metro station. highly congested and polluted area due to no control of police.

Has anyone considered the service conditions of the policemen. They stand for hours on VIP duty, they take in a lot of dust and other harmful gases and no protection is provided. If they do a good job they are reprimanded because there is some political connection of the criminal. Affluent persons go scot free and very little is done to them to ensure fast and expeditious punishment. Salaries are dismally poor.

Policemen stand in front of cars and bikes etc to stop them from running away after a traffic violation.Why should they do this risking their lives. Are the errant drivers given detriment punishment in such cases to ensure fewer repetitions of such instances.

I think the traffic police is doing a commendable job. There are a large number of citizens who believe they are above the law and will not stop when a policeman asks them to making the policeman chase them sometimes at the cost of their lives. Do we have laws to mete out deterrent punishment to such offenders.
Most citizens will not follow the lane philosphy and waiting patiently is not one of our traits leading to chaos and unnecessarily delays in movement.
Every deptt has some bad eggs but we need to mitigate the difficulties they face.
Policemen need to be feared but they must be the first to be approached in times of need.

In east Delhi, Mayur Vihar Ph. 1, on the road connecting two Ahlcon Schools, the traffic police is totally indifferent to the problem particularly in the morning when the schools start and in the afternoon when the schools are closing and other wise in general throughout the day the situation is pathetic.
