Bangalore city will be much better off, without a BBMP elected council. BBMP has always worked well under a bureaucrat Administrators - Mr. Lakshman Rau, Dr. A Ravindra, Mr. Balasubramaniam and recently Mr. Vijay Bhaskar. Keep BBMP Council under suspension for 5 years and let State Government directly administer BBMP thru the Administrator. City MLA's will be responsible for wards under their respective constituencies. Energize duly empowered Ward Committees, represented by genuine residents/RWA's, to help manage the wards. IMPORTANT - downsize the employee strength of BBMP and repatriate all deputed officials back to their parent cadre - this will substantially reduce salary burden. Garbage collection and disposal to be contracted through Global tenders. Roads construction and Maintenance works to be awarded against Global tenders and minimum qualification to participate in tenders to be substantially upgraded. Financial control to be tightened. Realistic review of property taxes to be taken up and tax payment benchmarked against quality of services provided by BBMP. Residents of Bangalore will automatically see the change.

Area- Shreyas Colony, J P Nagar 7th Phase. During the last 3 months, BBMP's garbage pickup was very erratic, and it continues. Now they come once in 3 days, without any fixed timings. Keeping the garbage bags at the gate even for a day is difficult, because of dogs and squirrels. If dogs get hold of these bags, they spill it all over the road. Some residents, thinking that waiting for the garbage pick up is futile, dump garbage on road side. If Pick up vehicle comes daily at a regular time, this area will be clean to a extent. Also BBMP is not doing enough to tell residents that they should wait for the garbage pick up vehicle to turn up and not dump garbage on road side. Lack of awareness on cleanliness by educated residents is the biggest problem.

No regular garbage collection, construction material blocking the road, incomplete drainage work.

Worst possible department one find in this developing world. These are stupid, politically motivated and lack vision.
