Why upper middle class wants to flee

2/5th of your income - thats what the government can take as income tax at higher slabs. Add GST, cess, fuel taxes, and other indirect levies, and over 70% of your hard-earned money is drained.

This brutal tax burden is making many skilled professionals question the worth of taking high-paying jobs. why work harder just to fund senseless freebies and shamelessly branded "Yojanas"? As a result, a growing number are choosing to leave India altogether, a massive long-term loss for the country.

One must be economically literate to understand this crisis. But sadly, many blind followers keep shouting that the tax is only 14–15% up to ₹24L. What a shameful oversimplification. more

Why should one earn?for a posh living;ok,then ? since one has lott of money one can not lie in many beds, since one has lot of money one can not consume more. what one will do with lot of money? what is meant by hard work,no one can work more than 18 hours a day.Luckily some works pay huge salary unproportional to work they are lucky lot. cinema artists sports persons, politicians.Honestly speaking no one invents anythng new to change the life of people. In software also an analyst gets fat salary in international company whereas a similar guy gets paid low if it is a local indian company. Because one gets fat salary that does not mean he is above all. he is also a man with 24 hours with normal apetite emotions feelings more

Ruchira Maheshwari this is a very important topic and really needs to be looked at. India needs to revamp the tax structure and regulations. Many Indians do not understand this and keeps asking for free stuff from the government. Free is never free in this case we the taxpayers pay what is so called free for citizens. This is also why India needs to negotiate the tariffs with US. So much of our economy depends on exports. We are the winners for now as multinationals are leaving China and relocating to India. India needs to capture all that business to help our country prosper. Private business is what helps employ people and helps tax base grow. We should not be looking at the government to provide jobs. High tax rates do not bring more money for the government, as people try to evade taxes via loop holes or ultimately leave because money and people are mobile. People will do what is good for them. more
The country does not benefit when we tax the creators. The big businesses and money earners are the one make economy economy. In USA NY and CA have very high taxes and regulations and people are leaving to go to states where they do not have tax burden like that. It is proven fact that high taxes do not help economy grow. Politician with socialist thinking do not see that money and people are mobile. more
It is true that middle class is bearing the most of the burden. It can be GST,IT, penalties etc. They cannot escape from these clutches, as they are to buy goods, pay income tax and face penalties. The Govts which are increasing penalties for no parking, helmet driving etc., are bothered to provide parking places, genuine helmets etc. They all commercial shops to construct without parking, they allow inferior quality products and penalize public for their mistakes. Sometime ago, there was a talk to abolish Income Tax, but shelved. Since almost all products are under GST with various rate structures, it is high time to avoid double taxation for citizens. It will be provide lot of relief. OR provide benefits to income tax payers, since the Govts are providing benefits for unpaid people in the name of freebies. Recently, central Govt. launched a scheme with approximately One lac crores under EPFO for generate employment. Fine, what about the pathetic situation of EPS pensioners who are eking out their livelihood with meagre pension under EPFO with less than Rs.1000.00 a month without any other benefits. Need to think and act to rationalize the tax systems, benefits and freebies culture. Unfortunately, the legislators, who are to make these changes are the culprits of this culture by enjoying so many freebies at common public cost and pensions for a very limited service. Funnily, they are eligible for multi pensions for their short services, where as the employees under EPFO are to suffer with meagre pension, having contributed for several years. THIS IS HIGH TIME FOR REVIEW, REVISION AND MODIFICATION & ABOLITION OF OUR TAX LAWS AND BENEFITS. more
They are welcome to leave the country more
It is a shame that you don't see the problem in this. This is the kind of mind set that hurt India. more
