Why no accountability for Government

For junta:

1.) No helmet… Fine ₹1,000/-
2.) Parking in a no-parking zone… Fine ₹3,000/-
3.) No insurance… Fine ₹1,000/-
4.) Drunk driving… Fine ₹10,000/-
5.) Driving in a no-entry zone… Fine ₹5,000/-
6.) Talking on a mobile phone while driving… Fine ₹2,000/-
6.) No pollution certificate… Fine ₹1,100/-
7.) Triple-seat riding… Fine ₹2,000/-

But:

1.) Malfunctioning traffic signals… No one is responsible!
2.) Potholes on the road… No one is responsible!
3.) Encroached footpaths… No one is responsible!
4.) No street lighting… No one is responsible!
5.) Garbage strewn all over the streets… No one is responsible!
6.) No streetlight poles on the roads… No one is responsible!
7.) Roads dug up and left un-repaired… No one is responsible!
8.) If you fall into a pothole and get injured… No one is responsible!
9.) If stray cows or animals collide with your vehicle or a dog bites you… No one is responsible!
10.) Sewage flowing all over the road… No one is responsible!

It feels like the public is the only criminal, and only they are liable to pay fines. The administration, the municipal corporation, and the government; none of them are ever held responsible.

No rules apply to them. They are never accountable for any negligence.
Shouldn’t they be held responsible too???

Citizens must work hard, endure suffering, pay taxes, pay fines, fill the government’s coffers, and then vote them back into power! more

https://www.dailypioneer.com/2025/columnists/nature---s-fury-and-man---s-folly--lessons-from-the-himalayan-deluge.html Nature’s fury and man’s folly: Lessons from the Himalayan deluge Monday, 01 September 2025 | V K BAHUGUNA "'Natures beauty is an art of God' and very well elucidated in Bhagwat Gita which teaches us to respect the laws of nature and maintain balance with nature and the human spirit. The recurrent furry of flash floods and devastating damages of live and property are heart wrenching caused by the cloud bursts, and melting of Glaciers and other atmospheric disturbances caused by climate change and unchecked assault on the geography in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu during 2025 Monsoon is a stern warning to people at large and ruling elite in particular to behave and not to fiddle with nature's beauty as even the climatic fall outs are the result of the rampant misuse and over exploitation of resources, neglect of science and are disturbing the balance of nature. This year the three Himalayan states have received much more than the normal rainfall since June 2025. There is now a significant surge in the western disturbances during monsoon, which are typically noticed in winters and spring. The hills like Dharali, Harsil, Tharali, Sayana chatti, Mandi, Kullu, Kangra, Shimla, and Solan Kistwar and several other places are witnessing extreme weather events — cloudbursts, flash floods, landslides, and mudslides — has claimed hundreds of lives, displaced communities, and caused extensive damage to infrastructure, highlighting the escalating impact of climate change on this ecologically fragile region. Scientists link this anomaly to Arctic and West Asian warming, which has shifted the subtropical westerly jet stream northward, intensifying rainfall in the Himalayas. Since the onset of the monsoon season in June 2025, the Himalayas have been faced relentless rains, with rainfall in Uttarakhand reported at 421 per cent above average. Himachal Pradesh alone recorded 276 deaths, 336 injuries, and 37 people missing by mid-August, with damages estimated at `739 crore within just 20 days. Across the region, at least 280 deaths have been reported due to flash floods in India and Pakistan, with Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh accounting for over 130 fatalities combined and still many people are missing. The deluge buried homes, hotels, shops, and roads under tons of mud and debris, killing at least four people and leaving over 100 missing. Rescue operations, involving the Indian Army, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), evacuated more than 150 people and rescued several survivors. If we see the development patterns and tourist inflow in Uttarakhand and other hill stations the development is assuming the status of scams and rackets by those outside forces who eye to become riches by exploiting the fragile ecology with the help of local politician's, bureaucracy and gullible locals. As far as causes are concern it is well known that Climate change has amplified the monsoon's intensity, with warmer air holding more moisture (up to 7 per cent more per 1 degree Celcius rise). The warming of the Indian Ocean and Arabian Sea has increased atmospheric moisture, leading to sudden and intense downpours. Glacier retreat and permafrost thaw have further destabilised mountain slopes, exacerbating landslides and flash floods. The situation is further compounded by lopsided unplanned development and degradation of natural forests and environment. Further, Unregulated urbanisation, deforestation, and ill-conceived (ill-conceived because development must be there but it has to be environmentally sustainable) infrastructure projects like, hydroelectric dams and four lane highways, improper slope cutting and rampant building constructions on vulnerable slopes without geological consultation and resulted choking of drainages have worsened the region's vulnerability." more
There is no element of accountability. There should be system where if citizens report a defect/malfunction, then the agency must take it seriously and do urgent repair in timely manner. more
Very True, public can't question & government won't answer. more
Fully agree....this issue is everywhere...bridges falling, roads cracking, un inaugurated bridges roads flyovers getting damaged due to rains whereas British time bridges with no computers no internet no modern machines even being used today...so we all understand what is happening sad NO ACCOUNTABILITY,go on collecting toll, heavy taxes on vehicles purchase, fuel etc etc etc....sad more
Tax money has always been used for wrong purpose. Only to appease lower class people by introducing schemes of free money. I mean why, instead offer them some work. Make them self dependent. I've seen even working women getting this special benefit of free money through govt. more
