Water purifiers do not work satisfactorily

Supply water in Sector 8 contains lot of sand and tastes salty. TDS ranges between 3500 to 4500 depending on the weather condition. We met our local MLA nearly 4 months ago. We were assured of good quality of water within a month. more

Same problem persist in NIT-1 also, the taste of water is too much salty more
The position is similar- rather worse in other sectors - even in sector 28 we get salty water with lot of sand - unfit for drinking and other uses - all taps get choked with sand more
The acceptable TDS level in drinking water as per the Indian standards is 500 mg/l however in the absence of an alternative source the‘permissible limit is 200 mg/l, above which the sources will have to be rejected. The problem can be addressed by RO systems but the wastage of water will be immense as well the reject water will be carrying too much salt and drain pipes be it kitchen or so become more susceptible to choking. Even though it will not taste so good as the packaged bottled water has a TDS of around 100 mg/l. The ground water with such tds is absolutely unsuitable for even gardening. Very soon the water treatment plant built up at sector- 11 (beside Ashirwad hospital) will be operational. This treated water is likely to cater to sector 10 and 11 definitely however I presume should also cover sectors 7 and 8. more
I often talk with Eureka Forbes guys also. They inform me that this problem is existing even for Sectors 11 and 7. We had shifted to this sector nearly 3 decades ago. The water quality has been bad for last 5 years particularly. more
Drinking Water should have TDS value less than or equal to 900 mg/l. If it is more than 900, then water is not acceptable for consumption. more
