Waste Segregation - Inputs Sought

Many of you have written to us on this subject. With this post we would like to seek your practical inputs on how this can be done in every household.

Also, if you have inputs for urban local bodies from a law/enforcement stand point to implement waste segregation, please share them as well.

We look forward to your inputs!

Lets have Neat Garbage Do we ever feel ashamed that those thousands are forced to lead a sub-human life because we have become too big for our boots and cannot even work towards NEAT GARBAGE? What I mean by neat garbage is all components of garbage in a condition which we will feel comfortable to handle till handed over or disposed. Not letting last nights curry getting mixed with the packet of peat bread, no leftovers in the packaging's from innumerable food delivery counters, Never letting biodegradables mix with non biodegradables /recyclables. When we know very well that biodegradables are of no use to waste pickers unless there is community compost pit, we should not hand them over at all. Have compost pits / bins/ vermin compost container in your kitchens or near your dinning table or in your gardens if you have one or in gamlas if you have them . Handover only recyclables and that too clean ones so that the left over drops of milk in the pouches, the sticky drink bottles/ chocolate/ mithaii boxes do not attract flies. A few extra minutes before dropping something in the bin is all its going to take for larger than life results. more
