VK Singh drawing plan for GZB development

GHAZIABAD: Close on the heels of Narendra Modi's action plan for development in Varanasi, Ghaziabad MP Gen (retd) VK Singh has swung into action to sketch development plans for his parliamentary constituency.
Singh has wrote a letter to Ghaziabad disrrict magistrate asking for the existing projects details and their status as well.

Team Singh has reached out to the bureaucracy and sounded the bugle call on development initiatives for one of the oldest city of India.

"Just seven days after winning Lok Sabha elections, former Army chief and BJP MP Gen (retd) V K Singh has swung into action and asked district administration to report him the details of all development projects, including Metro and even pending projects," said a senior BJP leader.

Singh, who won elections with highest margin in UP, that is 5.67 lakh votes and defeated heavy weights candidates of other parties including Raj Babbar and Shazia Ilmi, on Saturday wrote letter to Ghaziabad DM SVS Ranga Rao.

Local BJP leaders said that after getting details of projects, Gen (retd) Singh will prepare his action plan for developing Ghaziabad.

TOI has a copy of his two-page written letter, in which the former Army chief has asked if there is any plan/project regarding the expansion of Metro project in Ghaziabad and also the status of the project.

Singh has also asked for current status of National Highway in Ghaziabad and numbers of government schools and college.

"Is there any plan pending of regularization of unauthorized colonies? How many bus shelters are there in Ghaziabad? Is there any plan to increase the numbers?," Gen (retd) Singh asked.

Gen (retd) Singh has sought details of 20 issues of Ghaziabad including infrastructure, electricity, water, medical facilities, educational facilities etc.

While Modi has an extensive plan for Ganga, Gen (retd) Singh has taken up cleaning and beautification of Hindon river. As of now, likewise Ganga, Hindon river is in pathetic condition. The aquatic life has been 'killed' and for the credit goes to the government apathy.

BJP leader also said in his letter that he was being approached by Ghaziabad's residents and on this, provide him the current status of water supplies across the district.

"We have been reaching out to people seeking advice on the changes they think in Ghaziabad and the rest of west UP. A politician or bureaucrat has no right to impose any infrastucture on public. Such projects are meant for public and we should seek their advise and incorporate their positive suggestion before finalizing the project line," Gen (retd) Singh had said.

People of Ghaziabad has expectations from Gen Singh. "Ghaziabad is known for crime, pathetic infrastructure, massive traffic jam and lawlessness. The residents had lost hope for betterment of Ghaziabad but as Modi has draw an action plan for Varanasi and Ganga, apart from other part of India, Gen (retd) Singh is also following the footprints. So we residents have a ray of hope that "achhe din" are not too far," said Manjusha Sharma, a resident of Ghaziabad.

Ghaziabad MP Gen VK Singh said that the newly-formed government will examine why NCR Planning Act 1985 failed to deliver desired results. Singh said that the Act was made with an intention of de-congest Delhi and ensure widescale development of satellite towns.

Narendra Modi, in his several speeches have flagged that in India Acts are made by governments but situation does not change due to poor action. On the lines of Modi, Gen Singh has committed for proper implementation of the Act on ground.

"To off load pressure from the national capital, NCRPB Act 1985 was enacted but ruling parties in past did not pay heed, which further led to pathetic condition in the satellite cities," Gen Singh had said. more

points mentioned are very realistic and if addressed properly can reshape the image of Ghaziabad, in addition to this will like to add that priority shall be given to NH24, which really need to be converted to 8 lanes, considering the current situation, GT road passing through the Ghaziabad too need to be expanded, as time required to commute within the city is much higher. more
I agree with the views of Mr Navneet Sarin and support his for this cause. more
It's a surprising that NCR Planning board has failed totally in implementation of everything in this city. Actually they have adopted different parameters for different cities in NCR. For example the DTC is playing its buses in Noida freely that why DTC buses which were coming to Ghaziabad for many years were stopped during the rule of Mayawati and were never restarted. ALT Gzb - Shivaji Stadium New Delhi was the most popular route and thousands of people were using that service. Just for the ego of few people the buses on this route were stopped and now for last many years there is no service. This has caused lots of inconvenience on female passengers specially and now they have to travel up to vaishali or Anand Vihar on Shared Autos. Numerous cases of attacks and loots have happened with poor ladies but no one has ever bothered. Police appears to be either too inefficient or part of the big bribe game. As its a open fact that all Autos are paying convenience money to someone hidden behind curtains but how protect them. Lets hope General Singh is able to do some thing really good for the people of Ghaziabad and is not going to remain a helpless spectator like previous MP's. more
