VIP family culture
A couple days back, I visited the ancient Someshwara Temple in Bangalore. As I walked towards the temple, there were a dozen police personnel near the entrance. Vehicles were being turned away from the road. The municipal workers were furiously cleaning the space. I thought, God was scared of humans and had requested for security.
Once inside, another security person, asked me and others to wait at the side. There were about 4 or 5 such security persons. After about 20 mins, 2 ladies walked in followed by their chelas/thondargal/assistants, the police and security personnel. They were inside for about 15 mins. We were all shooed to one one side to clear the way for them. They Came out draped in a silken shawl and were followed by all the above mentioned followers.
Apparently one was the wife of one of the self anointed VIPs. For her, the commoners had to wait for 30 mins and spend the govt personnels' time and money and the vehicle for a private visit.
What a privilege !!!
And we get potholed roads, unwalkable footpaths and garbage at every street corner (thank the civic workers for trying to clear some of the muck). more
