URGENT NEED TO MAINTAIN ELITISM OF THE DEFENCE FOR

Most robust democracies of the world, pay their defence forces, the highest salaries, in cash as well as kind. The soldiers are exempt from paying income-tax during war, insurgency especially and when called out for handling National Disaster Relief work. However, in our country, where the soldiers are doing this constantly, this courtesy is not extended to them. Tax is cut from even the last salary of a martyr. Isn't that shameful?? The allowance for a soldier has been fixed at 31500 for the Army, while, the IAS/IPS/IFS are entitled to 50000 at places like Guwahati, Srinagar and Imphal. There is an urgent need to address this growing discrepancy, before the unrest within the Armed Forces increases to an extent that it is detrimental to the country. Please suggest and exhort the present Govt. to correct the anomalies. more

Sorry, Babus and netas. more
The Government, unfortunately, has not shown any foresight and statesmanship, in their handling of the issue. True, if you need more money, cut the flab in your other Govt services. The DCs and SDMs ( civil servants) are never to be seen around when disaster strikes their cities or towns, yet higher pay bands, all the plush position on committees. Even those that require tremendous knowledge of the military principles and objectives are being lead by them. Unexplainable and fraught with disastrous consequences. Will this Govt be serious about banning canteen subsidies, travel subsidies for their non-performing baby's and net's, and divert the same to the Defence Forces, rather than hiding behind the frivolous excuse of not enough funds, will have to steal the roti from a poor man's mouth and so forth?? more
Agitation for redressal of their grievance and interference by political parties for vested interest only harms the nation and morale of the serving defence personals. The government should swiftly address all legitimate issues after sincere scrutiny swiftly and avoid much of media attention. Instead of granting such financial package to states like J&K much could be done for its employees with occupational danger to their lives, with a fraction of it. more
