Managing post festival COVID-19 surge with localised shutdowns/lockdowns
Many of you have been actively sharing views on lockdowns and Unlocking and managing the COVID-19 situation and LocalCircles has been escalating them to the Government. Post festive season surge in Covid-19 cases are being reported from some parts of India with Delhi leading the way. Based on your inputs and inputs of members in Delhi circles, below is the survey report on what should be done in Delhi and what should be the lockdown strategy in case any city/district sees a surge in Covid-19 cases. Post Festival Markets Shutdown/Lockdown Survey
The survey suggests that in places like Delhi that are running out of Covid ICU beds, a markets shutdown or lockdown for 3 weeks may be needed to break the chain of spread. However, in other parts of the country if a city or state experiences a surge, a more logical solution may be to do a city or state level lockdown based on the threshold of active cases. The key metric to look at is the availability of Covid ICU bed in the city in comparison to the rise in active cases.
We look forward to your inputs on how this can be managed i.e. managing health and safety of citizens while minimising economic disruptions! more
