Upliftment of Garbage Collectors - What should be done
1. Garbage collectors should be treated with respect
2. Garbage pickers should be brought under an organized sector
3. They should be better paid
4. Garbage management companies could hire and train them
5. They should also be trained on following the STANDARD Operating Procedure
6. They should be given modern equipment to clean garbage
7. They should also be given proper uniforms, gloves and masks free of cost
8. It is also important to instil in them a sense of pride and responsibility in what they do
9. Mechanization of the dangerous and very filthy part of the work must be done
10. They could be provided medical services free of cost
11. Immunization for each and every garbage collectors must be made compulsory
12. NGOs should be assigned to take care of their welfare
13. Volunteers could impart them training in the optimal process of waste collection and disposal. more
