"Poster MAFIA" is a Single Term which can help explain all this Menace arising out of an Unregulated & Unrestrained use of Posters & Hoardings at the behest of Local Politicians. National Capital--New Delhi, where Administrative Crisis is all evident have become a Major victim to such Unscrupulous NEXUS involving-- Municipal Bodies, Enforcement agencies and Gangs from Political parties! Solution involves a definite EMPOWERMENT of Citizens who can then report over these Violations & bolster their accusations with suitable Photos, Audio-Video Clips etc. Therefore, a dedicated Citizen-Govt. Portal & the respective Smart-Phone App would go a long way to report & prosecute such Violations in a decisive manner. more
Political Posters are the biggest menace. I have lived all metros but the Posters/Hoardings menace takes the cake in Chennai. Private unauthorized posters can be regulated and violators can be penalised by Corporation. But they are completely helpless with respect to political posters especially by Ruling Party. Recently the ruling party put huge hoardings in the entire route of ADMK Leader Amma travelled to venue of their party meet to strategize for state assembly elections. The hoardings were so huge and ugly that one cannot see anything on two sides of the roads. Two public spirited persons protested and they were promptly arrested for damaging public property ! There are rules for regulating posters and Hoardings. But in our country political parties are law unto themselves. They should discipline themselves and abide by the rules only then menace can be curbed. Ban/Regulating Hoardings should form part of Swatch Bharath campaign. more
