TRAI should take action against unsolicited calls & SMS to DND numbers
Nowadays a Mobile phone is an essential commodity and the number is circulated far and wide to friends, relatives etc. Retaining the same number is easy with MNP by changing the service provider. With the advent of mobile phones, comes the registered mobile number concept for executing financial transactions, banking, purchase of shares, approving transactions OTP etc. Likewise important communications from banks, government authorities, Utility companies, Income tax, friends etc are sent as SMS or by way of calls.
Now the dark side is the number of unsolicited SMS & marketing calls being received on the mobile phone. This leads to colossal waste of time and energy as the consumer is not interested in any loans/insurance/investment plans/NGO donations/ fraudulent job calls/ housing projects from builders, pest control services/blood tests etc. Due to this, sometimes genuine calls/enquiries are missed thinking it to be dud calls.
Truecaller app is available to identify the caller and report it as Spam. However, there are rumours about personal data security being compromised- Contacts, OTP SMS etc
TRAI has provided the option of DND & Non-DND numbers. However, all DND & Non-DND numbers continue to receive such calls/SMS. This is because the mobile number database is being misused and DND and non-DND numbers are being sold in the market for as less as Rs 15,000 annually by middlemen. The point is that time & energy were wasted in attending these calls made to DND numbers and productivity was lost. Some of these callers extract information and indulge in cyber crime as well. Senior citizens are also pissed Sometimes one feels it is better to give it back to these pesky callers and tell them it is a DND number and ask them to delete your number from their database so that future time is saved.
TRAI should take severe action and punish these pesky callers and refrain them from dialling DND numbers or sending such SMS to DND numbers. Immediate action is required from TRAI to resolve this issue. more

This has become a sort of harassment.Specially to Senior Citizens when they are relaxing.Concerned agency must look in to it. more

Needless to say that the ball is now in TRAI's court........ Something MUST happen to relieve smartphone holders........... I mean, I myself have been getting the same message from the same source as "last day today....." offer every single day since the past six weeks or longer.....Their "last day" doesn't seem to find an end.....This must not be.... more

Despite making several requests for DND such calls & SMS are coming in un abated. Its high time now that the government take punitive action against the concerned service providers and the respective telemarketing companies. Such unwarranted calls & SMS are nothing but unauthorised interference in ones peaceful private life. There must be an end of such unethical and unauthorised practices. more
