TIN surrender process

I am a proprieter. Business was closed 1 year back. Now i want to surrender TIN.
What is the process ?
Can i surrender TIN online ? more

Ensure , all your assessment completed upto date, and file a simple application to your assessing Authority. more  
Thanks a lot of you guys, How do i know about dues. I have login id pasword, is it help to know about dues ? more  
You have to inform the concerned CTO in writing along with Original TIN Certificate that you have closed the business. B'fore that you should ensure no monthly returns pending & also the Vat dues. The CTO will verify that you have closed the business also and your TIN registration will be cancelled. You may log into the CTO website of your concerned state & you fill find your business as closed.You may take a printout & keep it as a record/roof of business as closed. more  
Where are you located and where were you doing your business? This information is important before giving any reply as the procedure of VAT is different in different States. more
