Time to emulate UP CM

The CM and the govt of UP has to be congratulated by the timely ban on Pan masala and Pan chewing as the spread off Carona virus is spreading fast by this mode.
It is timely to take stock of all which can spread the virus now and try to implement the harsh measures of permanent ban on such products and habits.
1- Respiratory inclination of virus can be reduced if pollutants can be banned -Beedi smoking , feeding birds in public and private places.
2- spitting of saliva - which increases due to Paan ,betel and pan masala ,tobacco products .These should be banned immediately permanently.
3- Ban on feeding birds ( most have religious angle ,some humanitarian and some just fancy )It is well known that bird dropping cause conditions leading to ILD a severe lung disease.
Long term suffering of people who are in the trade of growing, production and sale of these can be mitigated by
Announcing family pension to Beedi workers and paan sellers and growers for five years Untill they adopt another profession( alternate skill development or modes of income can be stimulated by innovative ways to suppot their families..
Personal habits can be put in check by wide publicity of cancer, respiratory diseases and asthma and addiction being caused by Beedi and paan masala and pan eating.
Tobacco growth though has come down still the oral products for consumption of tobacco has persisted and this should be banned.
Massive sponsorship of events, and advertisements Of these products must be banned. The loss of tax to the govt should be absorbed in other ways.
Vulnerability of people to carona infection who have respiratory problems ,and people who are habituated to smoking is well known by the severe mortality and morbidity in west specially Europe.
Right minded state governments and GOI must insist on these measures ,now is the opurtunities to hammer . more

Earlier some State Governments like Odisha have banned manufacture of Gutkha in the year 2015. Even then, Gutkha is readily available in retail shops. This sort of ban is meaning less and the law should be implemented by the state governments with a stern hand in public interest. more
