For Rajdhani/Shatabdi being premium trains the service should be upgraded. Catering management and service can be given to private hospitality corporate groups; and simple complain/fine mechanism can keep things in control. more

Quality of food served on Rajdhani Exp. trains has gone from bad to worse - specially on trains going towards east from New Delhi. Pantry bearers have developed many ways to cheat passengers. Only 1 or 2 newspapers are given for 6 passengers. They bring the after-dinner ice cream only after most of the passengers have gone to sleep. Half a cup of "ready-made" tea is served in stead of hot water, tea bags, sugar and milk powder sachets on a tray. After 20 hours, for that 2nd water bottle, -- passengers have to demand at least 3 times before getting it. 1 possible solution: - Rajdhani / Duronto / Shatabdi Passengers should be given the option of buying tickets with or without catering. "w/out catering" Passengers could then buy their choice of items vended by the pantry car bearers. And of course they will buy only those items whose quality is good. These vendors can also sell packaged goods and fruits etc. - At present such items are not available on Rajdhani, Duronto or Shatabdi trains. more

1- Railway station area should be developed as big commercial complexes with multi-brand retail stores, food stalls/restaurants, coffee chains, etc. Railway station area should look more like a mall. 2- Stations should also integrate within itself road transport hub to provide better and convenient connectivity to travelers. more
