There Must be separate Sewage and storm water disposal network. In most of the cases storm water run off is diverted in sewage network. This chocks up the sewage lines resulting in out bursting of sewage water in streets. Which in turn becomes a cause for health hazard. more

The sewage lines has to be designed taking in to consideration the topography, Existing drains and their capacities, Quantum of water that is discharged in to the system.( Present as well-as projected at least after 25 years) The network design must be based on reliable input data. Sections must not be over sized or under sized to avoid sedimentation or erosion. Proper technology to clean or desludge the line must be installed where ever required and should be operative at any time. Above all the work must be of highest Quality. What I have seen here in Vadodara that, layman like contractors carry out such important works. They hardly cure (Water)the work,Use the materials in designed proportions . This is utmost important for the strength(Quality) of the work. One RCC Manhole Breaks three to four times a year and our money seems wasted. So where ever execution of work is going on, people concerned should ask the agency about the quality specifications. It is mandatory for the agency to keep it on site. Those who have know how to check the work that is going on, is fulfilling the quality aspects or not must inspect the work. If the work is not up to the required quality level, the concerned authority should be called on site and both The Authority and the agency must be directed to rectify the work. Failing to which , State Vigilance Commission may be contacted and informed about the poor quality of work and workmanship as well. This will create fear in the minds of both :The Authority and the agency: and will think twice before adopting Malpractices. So we, the citizen, whose money is spent for welfare should be utilized in a appropriate way. As a vigilant citizen we can play a big role here. The Other most important issue is diversion of storm water in to sewage system. Here we are committing the crime. We must stop doing this. As this is the route cause of failure of a sewage project. We must stop others doing this. If , the doers do not respond, complaints should be made at appropriate level. Once such elements are punished, that will set an example for others. more
It's a well known fact that millions are spent for erection of sewage treatment plants (STP) but t how many STP s are actually functional needs to seen assessed and ensured it's uninterrupted function. Otherwise millions spent become useless as this area is neglected by most of the councillors . more
