THE TATKAL TICKET RACE GETS FAIRER BOTS AND HUMANS!

60 % OF ALL TATKAL TICKETS ARE BOUGHT IN THE FIRST 10 MINUTES:

Great news for all railway passengers! This isn't just another announcement — it's a real game-changer from the Ministry of Railways, and it’s already making headlines.
Starting July 1st, the Ministry has introduced strong measures to bring fairness back into the Tatkal ticket booking system:

* Aadhaar OTP Authentication is now mandatory
Yes, it may take a few extra seconds — but it ensures you, the genuine traveler, get a fair shot at booking your ticket.

* Agents blocked for the first 30 minutes
No more racing against automated bots or professional agents. Now, regular passengers can finally breathe easy.
Just take a look at the stats from the attached image — see how bots were grabbing most of the tickets within the first 2–10 minutes! No wonder booking Tatkal felt like a losing battle.

Most passengers didn’t even realize what they were up against all these years. This change levels the playing field.

A BIG THANK YOU to the Ministry of Railways for putting passengers first and taking real action. The Tatkal race may still be quick — but at least now, it's a fair race. more

Good step but our babus tauts shall not rest and will invent new methods to bypass system. Constant monitoring and regular verification is essential to ensure success of new system more
This arrangement of ticket booking be extended to all categories to stem the rot. more
And it took so many YEARS !!!! more
There has to some verification and no of people having aadhaar is high when compared to pan .Voter id is also a good alternative but it is not yet i presume seeded . more
A far simpler, more effective, and legally sound solution would be for Indian Railways to allow identity verification at the time of IRCTC account creation—rather than forcing Aadhaar at the time of Tatkal booking. If the Railways is genuinely concerned about preventing misuse, it should permit users to pre-verify their identity (and that of frequent passengers) using any officially valid document—Aadhaar, PAN, passport, voter ID, or driver’s license. Once verified, these passengers should be automatically eligible for Tatkal bookings without repeated authentication. This approach aligns with the Supreme Court’s ruling, as it does not mandate Aadhaar but still ensures verified bookings. It also reduces last-minute friction for genuine travelers while maintaining security. If the Railways insists on Aadhaar as one of many verification options, that would be acceptable—but making it compulsory is illegal and unnecessary. A pre-verified passenger list would streamline the process, curb fraud, and respect passenger rights—all without violating privacy laws or court orders. The goal should be convenience with compliance, not coercion. Let verification happen once, in advance, and keep Tatkal accessible to all legitimate travelers—not just those with Aadhaar. more
Yes. This is what I too feel. Once it is confirmed, it should stay in the records of the railways. more
