Thalassemia Testing
Can someone please share more information on why one should get tested for this and where in Delhi/NCR can you get tested for this (at reasonable price). How much does it cost? more

Kalyani, 1. The reason for testing for Thalassemia is that there may be a family History of Thalassemia. For example my nephewâs son had Thalassemia. When the parents were tested both had minor Thalassemia. If both parents have minor Thalassemia, then 25% chances are that the off spring may have Major Thalassemia. This becomes a very big problem for the parents and the child. 2. My haemoglobin used to remain low. The Doctor said no point loading you with Iron Capsules, get your Haemoglobin tested because of family history. Sure enough I had Minor Thalassemia. 3. My sister was the same case of minor Thalassemia. 4. If your haemoglobin remains low get your Thalassemia blood test done. 5. I got it done from Dangâs lab. The test you need to gett done is HPLC test . It is the test for Thal minor and other abnormal hemoglobins . Regards The cost varies from 650 rs to 900 rs across the various set ups. more

I got mine tested (as part of a larger group of tests) at Dr Dang's medical center in Hauz Khas (do a Google Search for the exact address). . .This medical center is pretty well known, and they seem to get the job done right, albeit in a rather harried manner at times. . . more
