Tatkal Issues being addressed
Dear Railways Circle Members:
Two of the high priority issues highlighted by you on Tatkal Booking were availability of website to make the booking and no refund being made upon cancellation of Tatkal tickets.
Here are some actions on the same from Raiwlays:
1) To ease pressure during peak hours, Railways has decided to stagger booking of tatkal tickets by allowing reservations in AC class from 10 am to 11 am and non-AC class from 11 am to 12 noon. The new tatkal booking schedule will come into effect in the next couple of days.
2) The the idea of giving refund on cancellation of tatkal tickets is being actively considered with percentage of refund based on time frames.

Tatkal ticket facility is controversies since it's inception. Railway may think to abolish it. Some technology may be thought to show the position of vacant accommodation to public with booking facility even after chart preparation. more

Agents cannot book a ticket without giving the names of the travellers, as proper checking of tatkal tickets with the id is done agents cannot block the tickets to sell it with high cost( I dont know whether this is being followed). Even for normal tickets our amount is refundable only 24hrs before, tatkal is being booked only 48 hrs before i think where most of them book only when they are very much needed. If this system of cancellation for TATKAL IS INTR0DUction then agents will make use of it and the deserving passengers will not get the tickets. more

Start from the basics. Concentrate on hygiene and sanitation at the railways stations and trains. Food is pathetic something that needs to be addressed. Create more inter state trains to decongest. No passenger to board without reservation. Additional coach can be given for ladies. Can't double storied compartments be made? Railway authorities must travel on sleeper class to take stock of ground realities otherwise there is no point asking for comments for the heck of it. more
