Stray dogs, monkeys and cattle: their conflict with humans for public space in cities.

Are municipalities in any other country tolerant towards animals roaming in the street of cities ? I have bitten twice by stray dog in Safderjung Development Area, New Delhi. Monkeys are the latest problem. Cattle roam in the posh street of Hauz Khas Village, nearby. Is South Delhi Municipal Corporation expected to do something about it ?

Are the officials failing in performing their duties. This is too petty a matter from Narendra Modi, but he should find ways of ensuring that officers are aware of ground reality and problems faced by citizens AND DO THEIR JOBS. more

Basically most of our priorities are lopsided, devoid of logic or reality. A stray dog bites a human being to death but the Society Prevention of Cruelty to Animals will take up the cause of the dog!. Monkeys are a huge menace in almost all cities in India. The society doesn't have any plan or roadmap of how to reduce the monkey population. I can agree with the Society if they oppose cruelty meted out to them in the laboratories for tests. But the same sympathy should not be applied when they become a nuisance to humans and the society. Leaving hoards of animals on the roads is a big nuisance in all major cities. Sorry state of affairs with the Governments and also with the population who foolishly do certain things. Feeding rodents in some parts of the country is one such! When people butcher animals for consuming their meat and filling their stomachs, where is the Society and what action do they take to stop that ? more
In Calcutta, stray dogs/cats have highest population in our country. I have seen that Poor people, who can not feed themselves properly are offering food to them. God help them!!! more
