STRAY DOGS IN OUR STREETS: BALANCING COMPASSION AND PUBLIC SAFETY

Stray dogs in many Indian cities have increasingly become a serious concern, with several incidents of dogs chasing and biting children, women, seniors (even those with walking sticks), and two-wheeler riders. Reports of mauling are deeply distressing and should not be acceptable in any society.
Every day, both print and social media—including YouTube—highlight heartbreaking incidents from across the country, especially in cities like Chennai and Delhi. Citizens feel helpless, and the administration seems equally unable to find a lasting solution.
Even after the Supreme Court’s suo moto observations and directives, visible action on the ground remains limited.
At this point, can our local circles come together and explore practical, community-driven suggestions to address this urgent issue? A coordinated approach—balancing compassion for animals and safety for people—may help bring meaningful change to our neighbour hoods and to India as a whole. more

SC and HCs judges are totally confused to solve the problem of stray and wild animals. Every bench delivers different judgement, sometimes impractical. Law makers are equally responsible as they are not any effective laws to tackle this serious problem. All are getting fed out of rax payers money without doing anything constructive. more
Human and religious sentiments are there. Like gowshalas, people should build places to live. more
BEFORE, municipality took all stray dogs and gave them injection to make them sterile and unfit for reproduction, so the probleme was solved now with european lobbies (i don't know what is the agenda) but they seem to amways make a hue and cry to put pressure on our weak politicians who are so afraid of white colonial and imperial men, they tend to say "amen " amen what to do , very sad but we should constitute a kind of trust to free INDIA of this menace , i have someone who was bitten by a dog and he could not marry now so deep was his wounds and the medecine complicates furthe , so in a nutshell we should organise public rallies suddenly throught instagram or facebook in a given area and make politicians aware of our sufferings more
Many countries are very strict about dogs and other pets. One of my coworkers (here in Australia) has a dog that gave birth to six puppies. When she put an ad for puppies, the council came to know about it and sent her a notice to comply. The council does not allow reproduction of dogs without a proper breeding licence. She was fined $1000 per pup for the violation! I think she will end up paying the fines :( more
Government should take action on these dogs menace more
