Standards needed for adventure sports in India

See attached This is why adventure sports aren’t safe in India. In Manali, a young girl fell from a zipline—nearly 30 feet—and is now seriously injured. Anyone without proper experience starts these activities, and there’s no one to check. Action is only taken after a fatal accident happens.

Can we please have standards for adventure sports? more

Such activities should be done under the supervision of a trained guide. Fine the wrong doers heavily. more
This is not the first accident. It hhas become a regular featute. The theme parks are certified after a though check advise.Even after insatalation it has to be checked. At least Ms. RM had informed in a social platform llike ours with fond hope of some measures to be taken. Who is to check not you and me please. The same body that Certifies. Theme park owners and investors should not have the soul aim of Profitability and throw Ehics, Principles and cauttion to air . Responsibility definitely falls on the Theme park owner and the Certifying officer/ s. more
The Peoples who do not have daring & courage shouldn't go to adventure. High BP , diabetics no more. Not to blame Govt. always. It is Citizens responsibility to check background of the supplier while exchanging the business. more
If Dipak P. you fell 30 feet, from govt. authorised zip line, govt. collecting money and tax, not blame govt.? more
Every business man and every person who in controlling authority and govt is corrupt every one wants easy money and out laws are the worst in the world . what a Govt can do more
Our country has a severe dearth of theme parks and adventure sports. The few that exist are small by most international standards and aim to profit using sub-standard, cheap, creaky, and clunky equipment. The rides and thrills are probably not even insured, and maintenance is substandard. Every piece of equipment, including tackles, wires, ropes, etc., has to be safe and needs to be replaced periodically as a preventive measure. Use of quality equipment is considered a risk avoided, as life is cheap in our country. In the video, one can see that a 30-foot zip line is almost nothing compared to the international ones, which go higher than 200-250 feet, but one can see that there are no safeguards like a proper jacket, headgear, shoes, or safety line anywhere. A fall at high speed from a 30-foot drop is a sure recipe for instant death. We expect the government to set and enforce standards for everything. However, isn't a business supposed to be responsible and given permission only when they meet certain safety standards? Why are officials approving such theme parks and adventure events without evaluating what the plans are and what kind of equipment is proposed to be used? How do they ensure continued standards of safety? Just writing a procedure is not the main criterion, but businesses have to be responsible in not cutting corners, simply saying that the market cannot afford it. A government official should not just be a facilitator who signs off on anything if he/she get some gratification. The government also levies its fees/taxes on such activities, making it a party to irresponsible acts. If you go to any international adventure area or park, there is a clear demarcation of the prerequisites; there is an age and health condition bar. There are people to ensure that certain norms are not flouted and safety gear is always available, and its use is indicated. Even if there is little doubt about the operability of the equipment, they would put off a ride or an event. The ride prices also tend to act as a filter because they are not kept too cheap. more
