Standards for swimming pool maintenance
Different resident associations, community centers and clubs manage and maintain swimming pools differently. Bad chemicals can cause cancer among swimmers bu there are no standards in India for how to maintain swimming pools and how to keep them safe.
Can Localcircles escalate this to BIS and demand that mandatory (not voluntary) standards be created for this activity more
Standards for maintenance have been published and are available online - its entirely up to the School / RWA to enforce compliance .... Its not the Govts mandate to enforce compliance in your home .... If a school is non-compliant, its the Parent association which should take it up !!! more
BIS Specification IS 3328:1993 specifies the (1) Physical, (2) Chemical, and (#) Bacteriological quality tolerances for Swimming Pool Water Quality. more
A standard swimming pool would have a chlorine filter plant and the treated water at the end of each day would thus last for a week after which the entire water needs change. However small pools use chlorine tablets which are directly dropped in the pool. This tablet chlorine causes eye irritation. However in view of covid scenario and how this virus could contaminate and spread in water also needs to be analyzed and in case of any other chemicals for containment and treatment is required, it needs to be administered. more
yes but knowing the laxity of state health authorities who are not able to maintain their hospitals PHC etc it will be too much to ask for and they will start harrassing the swimming pool auhorities but it needs to be done before some sort of health issue crops up as a contagious one since no one checks the condition of the people taking to pool as to what sort of ailment they are having more
State Health authorities should guidelines and ensure random checks every month. Laxofficials be fined without any excuse. more
