Sports in India

It is essential that sports are given a significant boost to make India a truly world Power. I would like suggestions on how we can do that apart from financial incentives which are already given but have little impact or have have long gestation periods. more

There is no dearth of talent in this country in any fiel, all that is required is identification of those youth. Previous govt never attached importance to the development of nation be it job creation, sport talent ,science, health, defense,in general, development. The resourceful youth identified in sports had to swim upstream, face red tapism in selection, personal favoritism, political corruption and man had to give up half way through. In every sport whether track event or games 1. Sports of India should conduct selection process, like entranc exam being conducted for professional courses and set a selection standard. Entrants to be encouraged to participate on individual capacity apart from thos sponsored through institutions, Organisations 2. Candidates selected after meeting a set standard are to be directly monitored by Sports of India and intensive training organized. Such centers are to be opened throughout India, not to disturb their education. 3. Those who meet professional standards are to be given rigorous training in central place . Necessary expenses are to be borne by govt including stay, food and stipend etc 4. The team or individual representing India should be certified by a team of experts in writing that they have met a minimum standard set for selection. 5. Coaches to be honored suitably where the participants took part apart from encouraging participants. more

One suggestion I have is that for all CWG winners, it be made compulsory to show a small clip of any one CWG winner before screening a movie in the hall. The amount of prominence the medalist will receive will encourage other athletes to improve and will encourage youngsters to pursue sports as a career. more
