Some more suggestions for improving performance of Indian Railways:
1. There has been rampant corruption in railways and the system is corrupt that it has attained the shape of in-built corruption which is impossible to root out.
Strong political will is needed to do that.
2. Often TTCs only work for minting money and they are on the lookout for opportunities for looting the passengers. Their behaviour with the passengers is very harsh and police-like. Easy and simple Provisions should be made for making complaints against them.
3. Even railway police on duty in moving trains indulge in corruption in different ways.
4. Private people should not be allowed in compartments for cleanliness aand for sale of tea and eatables.
5. Railway staff should be public friendly and helpful.
6. There must be screening of railway staff and a system of weeding out corrupt incumbents should be developed.
7. The senior officers in railways rather than enjoying the facilties available to them by virtue of their position should devote their time in improving the performance of railways and removing the difficulties faced by public while travelling.
8. Railways should have an in-built system for awarding punishment for lapses at every level.
9. A mannual containing rules, regulations, Dos and Don'ts, punishment for different types of lapses should be prepared.
10. High standards of sanitation and hygiene should be maintained at platforms, and running trains.
11. Pantries in running trains should be managed by properly trained railway staff and not by contractors whose sole motive is only to mint money.
12. Public/passengers suggestions should be invited on continuos basis and improvements be made accordingly. more

In all railway stations allmost all trains will be halted at the outer sometimes half an hour for shortage of plotforms. If there are 1000 passengers in the train 1000 * 30 =30000 minutes wasted for waiting. If you calculate it for all trains, all stations all over India ,how much it will be.So look into the matter and try to increase the number of plotforms starting with busiest stations like vijayawada etc.If there is no space available, you can build two stair plotforms like in USA.That will solve many problems.Thank You more
All train must have minimum 6 general coach. Debit/Credit Card payment to all ticket counter. (Currently only reservation counter). All trains toilet are refreshed every 10hrs at any station (if 22 Coach 10 person refresh 10 mts). Air circulation on coaches are improved. Hot period it is very hot and winter period it is very cool. more
