Smart Cities or Smart Colonies: Review Mission
It seems that the Government's mission of Smart Cities is starting to look like Smart Colonies where a chunk of land is identified in the city as Smart City.
With such an approach, the Govt will end up creating islands for the elite almost like a mini township that only rich can afford. So for instance in Bhopal there will be a colony called Smart City Bhopal where one may feel they are in foreign country but on other hand when you go to real Bhopal, you would see garbage on street, open drains, spitting everywhere.
And the big worry is in this process a lot of public money would be spent with potential scams coming out in future. more

Any infrastructure created must be sustainable in the long run. The present day set up in the government is awful in understanding the basic philosophy. Unfortunately the Govt babus, the contractors and political bosses are making hay at the cost of the common man on the street in the name of smart city. We need strong civil administration and good babus. more
