SLS in Indian shampoos, soaps - standard

A common ingredient in personal care products, sodium lauryl sulfate, or SLS, is an additive that allows cleansing products to foam. According to the Environmental Working Group's Skin Deep Cosmetic Safety Database, SLS is a "moderate hazard" that has been linked to cancer, neurotoxicity, organ toxicity, skin irritation and endocrine disruption.

Can BIS or experts in circle please advise what is India's position on this and can SLS be banned in cosmetics in India.
Most ayurvedic products don't have sls but common people still buy ITC, HUL products who have it. more

With the grace of internet, everyday we encounter with the present of health hazard ingredients in some of our daily used products and I think by this time we have already come across of presence of health hazard ingredients in more than 90% of products we consume daily. Majority of the people are clueless as to what is to be eaten and what not, which are the medicines which are harmless and/or which are the other items without health hazards to be put to our external use! As far as ayurvedic products are concerned, how will you ensure that these are pure and are free of any harmful ingredients and chemicals, as the producers of these products are now completely commercialised and profit mongers and as per recent news the branded honey being marketed by Dabur, Patanjali and other companies are not pure and healthy. Only last year, it was reported than more than 70 of Patanjali products had failed the quality test carried out by the concerned departments/institutions. more
Let BIS fix the standard for sodium lauryl sulfate, or SLS. more
I can't understand, why hon.members here don't read others comments, explanations.Just keep on writing BIS bla , bla.bla.....

There are standards but it is all related to technical specifications. There are CAS NO.OF ALL MAJORITY OF PRODUCTS N ALSO HAVE MSDS- that is material safety data sheet.

Which explains what it is, what are the safety needs to be followed, human exposure or skin ,eye or oral effects of any such chemicals, what is the safe limit, of any such chemicals, in case of skin or eye contact what should be done.

So for god sake do read n then ask or write something to make it more meaningful.
I once again say, the person who writes as first initiator must also comment after others contribution ,or otherwise should not mention anything here just for sale of making others busy. more
The pity is ,whosoever raise such issues never respond after making all busy. It seems such approach defeats the sole purpose of any such debate or contribution made by others. more
There is no soap without chemicals. The Ayurveda or herbal soaps, detergents ,shampoos all are simply misleading people. Soaps are also manufactured using fat n caustic soda, then small proportion of fragrance, color so called avala, heena, neem . Alovera n name it as herbal . more
We should be thankful to Anu Kaur. But give some more information about its hazards. If any members has the information please share to benefit us. more
What for we should be thankful, just to make others busy ? more
