Skills Upgrade in Urban Local Bodies

Based on your inputs, it is critical that skills upgrade/training exercises are conducted in Urban Local Bodies across India for improving delivery of Swachh Bharat Mission.

This upgrade has to cover municipal workers, supervisors, management and the training needs to cover all aspects of cleaning and for office staff customer service and using IT to respond to citizens.

Based on your experience at your urban local body, please share the various areas where training/skill development is needed.

Also, given that any training/skills upgrade has to be executed locally, do share any ideas about how this could be done most effectively.

1. I do not understand why people speak about municipalities only every time with out talking about villages. Government do not want to clean the villages. 2. What inputs are required? Every body are educated and every body knows what is to be done. 3. Any body is asking why the roads are not cleaned every day? Is it because equipment is not proper? Salaries are not paid? or Laziness? 4. If it is laziness then the punishment may be given but who supervises them. And why the super wiser is not punished? 5. Do not ask for inputs. With the available inputs first keep the roads clean. more
1-Upgrade skill set in urban local bodies by studying the other country's systems. They you can replicate it here to suit our needs and problems and people after modifying it suitably. 2-Sending a lot of these public representAtives like councillors is a waste as they are interested in the enjoyment at the cost of government. 3-Adopt new methods of road cleaning ,street sweeping ,drain clearance ,flooding ,desilting ,declogging by machines as seen in other countries. 4-Adopt out sourcing to clear the mess of municipality . 5- change our system of governance by retraining ,courses and attitudes to bring them to our expected level of performance officers ,technical staff supervisory staff ,administrative staff may get mounded .But itis the lower staff with union mafia who need careful handling.Banningof unions prevention of politicians to enter union bodies ,enticement ,appreciation, incentives for performers may help. Upgradation of their equipment of cleaning ,chemicals ,protective gear to workers (helmet ,glasses, industrial gloves, industrial shoes, dungarees withID itched on it ,and medical masks ) Automatation by robo armed vehicles driven by only one trained person who drives ,lifts by robot arm ,deposits with dumping area.(uniform color coded containers separate for dry and wet garbage with strollers )I gave seen in USA. Lastly change of work culture is to be brought in by repeated propaganda . more
