Saving green belt

As population is increasing day be day in Gurgaon we need more & more tree to balance oxygen level. However though HUDA provides green belt in sectors and along the road, at the same time all wine shops,11 kv and HT towers are put in same small stretch ain green belt, where big trees cant grow as they need cutting and pruning.HUDA also plants which are not local ans it must try to plant local trees as much as possible. more

and perhaps a 18 hole public golf course more
Historically, Aravallis were a rock outcrop or hills with very little soil cover. The British planted the "vilayati keekar" to control dust storms and bring some greenery. These trees, or rather shrubs, were an import from Australia. But the vilayati keekar is an invasive species. It spreads, and does not allow much else to grow. A year ad a half back, a movement called Million Trees Gurgaon took it upon itself to plant trees in Gurgaon wherever they could. One of the prime focus areas was the Aravalli Bio Diversity Park in Nathupur. However, due to very thin soil, the survival rate has been very poor. Having said this, I agree that Gurgaon needs more green lungs. All that we have is the Aravalli BioD Park in Nathupur, the Leisure Valley Park in Sec 29, and the miniature Tau Devilal BioD Park in Sec 53. I would wish that Gurgaon Municipal Corp and HUDA plan for more parks and sports complexes the way DDA has built 14 of them in Delhi. more
There have been attempts by some NGOs and corporates to grow bigger trees in the Aravalli outcrop in Nathupur (Aravalli BioDiversity Park). The soul cover is very thin and does not support large trees. I think each RWA should do a Bhagidari with HUDA for this. The Forest Dept experts can tell us which trees will grow well, provide shade, what care these will require. RWAs should ask HUDA for support in earmarking the pieces of land, and money for this activity can get transferred to RWAs who will have to raise the balance themselves Sheila Dixit govt in Delhi had run this concept and thus there is a working model available Sent from my iPhone > On 28-Jan-2014, at 2:00 pm, "Akhilesh Dixit" wrote: > > > > > Akhilesh Dixit (House No. 805 sector 45) > Akhilesh Dixit (House No. 805 sector 45) posted a message in "Residents of GURGAON". > Subject: Saving green belt. > Reply Reply to this email to post a comment. > > If you believe that this post is inappropriate for this Circle, Click Here to report it. > This email was sent to kamal.gupta@live.in.
