Role Clubs (Rotary/Lions) can play in SwachhBharat
Below are some of your inputs on the role clubs like Rotary, Lions, CA, Entrepreneurs etc can play in Swachh Bharat Mission. Kindly review and share any additional inputs you may have. We will share the same with the leadership at these clubs so they can start engaging in Swachh Bharat in a structured manner.
Role Clubs can play in Swachh Bharat Mission
1. These clubs should urge their members to take active part in Swachh Bharat campaign
2. The members should take up small projects of cleanliness in their area and share the outcome with other members
3. These clubs city chapters should join the city Swachh Bharat circle and then engage citizens in their efforts. They will easily get access to people without spending money on print media
4. The club as a whole can also adopt a certain block/market in their area and maintain its cleanliness
5. The clubs should spread the message of cleanliness through their own example
6. The clubs should be made ‘model areas’ and things like waste segregation, recycling etc. should be practiced in the club premises
7. Each club should pledge to make and maintain at least 1 public toilet in their area
8. The large network of dedicated volunteers could be used to contribute to the Swachh Bharat mission
9. The elite and influential members should be able to mobilize funds and also attract other people to participate in various cleanliness activities
10. Instead of trying to build a new structure, if the existing structures like these could be harnessed, the gestation period will be saved.
11. A parallel structure to municipality comprised of clubs and citizens can play an important role in cleanliness improvement if the two work together. more

I had described my experience at Auckland International Cultural Fair where I had engaged myself as a Bin Station Volunteer under Zero Waste Alliance. The final report on event has been received. Permit me share it. There was total collection of 1022 kg waste. 78% was composed, 14% was recycled and only 8% went to refill. more
