Both old and new sectors of this city's roads, bridges and flyovers need a revamp. Roads must be widened, lanes should be distinctly marked and rules must be enforced to ensure defensive driving and, not offensive or rash movement of traffic across lanes. Bridges must be wide to accommodate slow and fast movers; lane movement is a must. Trucks should move only in the left two lanes. Slow moving cars must stick to the center lanes and fast or speed limit vehicles in the left lanes. All motorcyclists and scooters, auto-rickshaws and farm equipment must remain on the service lanes only. Pedestrians need sidewalks and cross-over foot bridges, so that they don't have to tackle the vehicle traffic on the roads. Cleanliness is a very important matter and so are public habits. Spitting and urinating in public must be banned. The sale of goods on footpaths should be penalized. Vegetable sales on roadways must be stopped. Motorcycle use on pedestrian Bridges must be made a punishable offense and offenders fined with possibility of losing their licenses for a period of time. Repeat offenders can lose their licenses for good. Unless the Administration takes tough stands on these issues, the public will continue to make this City a chaotic and dirty place; an unhealthy lifestyle. Change is the call of today and we need all the support of our citizens to move the Administration. more

It needs a vision to appropriately plan bridges, flyovers, width of road, sewer systems etc which is either absent in government administrators or is deliberately avoided by them. It appears that the basic idea is to create inconvenience to people over the years and leave scope for making money in future through various contractors who would gratify with sub standard work. This is India after all - characterised by corruption up to the bones. Every development is guided by a mentally retarded town and country planning department. more
