Request to GOI/MHA

Based on what has happened in Chennai, it is my sincere request to Govt of India and Prime Minister Modi ji to create a similar circle called "Surakhsit Bharat" led by National Disaster Mgm Authority or Ministry of Home Affairs.

Our states and local body really do not know how to handle disasters and central help in creating such a large network will go a very long way.

Hope my request goes to right people.

Everyone knows what is to be done whether Swatch Bharat or Surakshit Bharat. If you say the Govt. agencies like Municipal authorities or PWD or health depts. do not know they will suggest foreign trips to Switzerland or Europe where problems are not there because of less population and they are all committed as they can't afford to be negligent and they are concerned about suffering of their people. Here we don't care for anything. B.N.Baliga more
SEPARATE CIRCLE IS NOT NECESSARY.THIS CAN BE COVERED UNDER SWACH BHARATH.LOCAL PEOPLE SHOULD PROTEST WHEN CLEARENCE IS GIVEN AGAINST NORMS FOR CONSTRUCTIONS.THEY SHOULD BUILD UP PRESSURE TO CLEAR UNAUTHORISED CONSTRUCTIONS.NOW CHENNAI PEOPLE MUST BE AWARE OF THE CAUSES FOR WATER LOGGING.LET THEM ACT UPON TO GET THOSE THINGS CLEARED SO THAT THEY MAY NOT SUFFER AGAIN.THE GOVT SHOULD DO EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO ACHIEVE THIS GOAL AND PEOPLE SHOULD COOPERATE WITH THE GOVT.ALSO ERADICATE THE SLUMS TOTALLY AND GIVE THEM AND ALSO TO THOSE WHO LIVE IN UNAUTHORISD CONSTRUCTIONS,PUCCA HOUSES ELSWHERE. more
Dear Madam Saw your post related to creating of circle named: "Surakshit Bharat" But in this I want to share few point : 1 How we can make sure that if by creating this circle people will follow this? 2. I am residing in OMR & due to these rains the total OMR was blocked due to no drainage in OMR as they we blocked with cabbages 3. People still throw cabbages/ wastes on road? Pl do not mistake me. so my creating circle people should follow this. But before that society/ area wise team has be formed. more
You are right , but every time asking Govt. we can form such circle at our end.e.g. In your society / building meet every one create awareness and expand it.......... more
What happened in Chennai this year is an annual affair in Mumbai, though not on such a mega scale. Every year in the rainy season large sections of Mumbai get waterlogged, and whichever government is in power, starts looking for scapegoats. Sometimes it is the contractor, sometimes the previous government, sometimes God of rain; actually everytime it is the apathy of the current government, and the municipal body who are responsible. Let us not burden the Prime Minister with this additional responsibility; he has enough on his hands. This is the work that has to be done by the local municipal administration. Both Chennai and Mumbai are coastal towns. Waterlogging in these cities should not happen, since all excess rain water should find its way into the sea. But this water is obstructed by new buildings. which mushroom in all the big cities. So, my suggestion is that when clearance is given for constructing a building, they should also see whether this construction is going to block egress of water. And the civic body should devise methods to allow free flow of excess rain water to the sea. And, the present Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu had begun a very intelligent scheme, of forcing everyone to carry out rain water harvesting; every household in Tamil Nadu had their own scheme of collecting rain water. But no one thought about implementing it in Chennai? Or the scheme just got bogged down by the torrential rains? As regards disaster management, the civic body has to keep its eyes and ears open. Some people are saying that the Meteorological Department had indeed issued a warning regarding impending torrential rains in Chennai; so, advance action should have been taken. VB Lal more
