Replacement of Lalgola passenger with EMU rake

Today I witnessed that the Lalgola Fast Passenger leaving Sealdah Stn. at 10.15 hrs. has been replaced with 12 coach EMU rake w.e.f. today. This is not acceptable on humanitarian ground. Because no EMU coach is provided with any toilet. But for journey of about 6 hrs. practically toilet is essential for many passengers to attend nature's call. The idea of replacing old rakes is most welcome. But I suggest that it may be done with MEMU rakes (where there is at least 1 toilet in each coach) but not with EMU rakes. more

Sudipta Paul needs to look at the issue with a slighter broader perspective. The Railway Minister is the Railway Minister for the Republic of India and not for the State of Maharashtra. Similarly, when Mamata Banerjee was the Railway Minister she was the Railway Minister for India, not just for West Bengal. Such narrow outlook is what has brought West Bengal to the dismal state that we are in today, from the glorious days when Bengal was the most industrialised and progressive state in the country. To revert to the issue at hand - yes, long distance "local trains" like the Lalgola Express must have toilets in every compartment, especially so because because most passengers in these trains travel from terminal station to terminal station ie a full 6-7 hours journey, usually from early morning or late into the evening. more

I have not travelled on this train. However, I feel the point raised deserves immediate attention of the Railway authorities. more
@Pranab Basu : You are absolutely right. Surprising that the Railway authorities could be so blind to the absence of this basic passenger facility in a EMU !! However, the long awaited double tracking of Ranaghat-Lalgola section is a welcome relief to the the passengers. more
During my service days, I was frequent traveler of LALGOLA EXP from Sealdah to Murshidabad and vice versa. It is one of the dirtyest train and no time schedule is maintained. The point raised is absolutely justified. more
