Regarding Automatic cancellation of Waitlisted ticket on non confirmation

Since the passenger does not cancel the ticket which is not confirmed, the cancellation fee should not be charged. In any case, the wait listed ticket gets cancelled only because all the seats have been reserved (no seat goes without getting any fare), RAILWAYS/IRCTC should seriously think about refunding the ENTIRE fare (in any case the passenger will be losing the booking/service charges paid to IRCTC and the payment gateway. PLEASE SERIOUSLY CONSIDER THIS REQUEST. THANKS more

Yes I agree, charging cancellation charge is double penalty on passenger. Unethical on part of Railway....either they should do away with the waiting list or don't charge cancellation fee. You pay even for taking a chance! more
