RAILWAYS IS CHEATING PASSANGERS , FIRSTLY FOR 4 MONTHS ADVANCE BOOKING, WHILE THIS BJP GOVT ITSELF COULD NOT DECLARE/ PLAN ITS ELECTION MANIFEST EVEN BEFORE TWO MONTHS, WHILE WE ASK TO REDUCE ADVANCE BOOKING TIME FOR TWO MONTHS.IN SENIOR CITIZEN QUOTA, IR ALLOTS MIDDLE BERTHS.FOR SENIOR CITIZEN QUOTA, TRANSPARENCY SHOULD BE MAINTAINED, WHETHER LOWER BERTH ARE AVAILABLE OR NOT.
ONE MORE THING, WINDOW WAITING TICKET WORKS AND ONLINE WAITING TICKET GETS CANCELLED IT SELF IF NOT CONFIRMED EVEN TO TO RAC.
A TARGET SHOULD BE THERE FOR SELLING WAITING LIST TICKETS , SO THAT RESERVED TICKET PASSANGERS SHOULD NOT SUFFER. FOR EXAMPLE ,FROM A GROUP OF 6 PEOPLE IF THEY GET TWO CONFIRMED TICKETS, OTHER 4 GET WAITLISTED TICKETS FROM WINDOW AND TRAVEL IN THE SAME COACH WITH PERSONS HAVING CONFIRMED TICKETS.
HOW DIFFICULT ,IT BECOMES TO RESERVED TICKET PASSANGERS TO SIT IN THE DAY HOURS .ANY WAY WAITLISTED GET ACCOMODATED AND SLEEP IN THE NIGHT ON FLOOR. more

I had suggested earlier that during the booking process, the berth numbers should be displayed to the user that will be allotted before payment is made and there should be option for going back to re-schedule the travel plan or proceed for booking. This approach will reduce the passengers frustration and helplessness. Alternately, the booking process in cinema multiplexes can be followed where the available seats are shown in green and booked/blocked seats are in red colour. It is the user's choice which seat he/she chooses...... more  
Youngsters and people who are able to climb up should voulantarily give up lower berths if some elders ask for. Unfortunately, the value system has eroded. Whenever, i travel and if i have a lower berth have always accommodated a request of going to an upper berth. The systems in India cannot be changed to a large extent just because of the scarcity, unfortunately, every day there are so many elders travelling and all of them want a lower berth. Best is to innovate and make climbing onto top more easier and its possible. more  
Yes... But there is no foolproof system .... humans are involved at some stage. But after changes to the refund rules... pre-bookings by agents and touts has definitely reduced.
And... memories are short if anyone says things were better in Lallu's time....???

Agents charges just Rs.500/- and are able to provide confirmed ticket on the day of journey in most crowded train. Ridiculous! Agent system must be stopped. I don't think railway ministry not aware of the situation but they are in hand and glove with them. Not taking any action on this account. Writing on this page is just crying in the wood. more  
still posibilities of blocking tickets by the booking clerks and authorised agents so the lower birrths are allotted even young people software yet to be improved and to disclose the misuse by booking agents more
