One Very Senior Railway bureaucrat's kid posts on reddit on how his parents who are Gazetted officers at HAG+ level (Higher Administrative Grade)
1. Misuse ticket booking systems and confirm tickets on any route, any train, for friends and family using VIP quota.
2. Misuse Saloon cars for personal purpose, though it is available only for official inspections. In his words, they have used them for personal trips, birthdays, vacations, with personal cooks and servants
3. Have made a phone call and the train they are travelling on gets priority, have helpers and attendants fawning over them and receiving them at stations
4. Misuse VIP quota in Railway hospitals and get direct instant, appointments, where B,C and D class workers have to wait in line for 4-5 hours to see a doctor.
5. Even managed to get him a job as a Special Class Railway Apprentice thru UPSC. But he left it within a year. Again his words.
6. Openly says his family has accumulated enough wealth for 10 generations and the guy who wrote this is now in Germany having fun
And the best part is, whom does he blame for all of this?
Us the common people.
Because, in his words, "You People don't even want to change it. You happily accept this slave mentality"
Also he says, "The common man himself is enabling the system that exploits him. We don't force good governance through criticism and accountability"
Apparently it is our fault that his family is corrupt.
Apparently we are hypocrites, for we criticize but do nothing to change it.
I guess now we are to blame for Bureaucratic Corruption, inefficiency, power tripping and incompetence too.

Misuse of power and corruption is prevalent in practically all the departments of Govt. No body wants to control it, as it serves their purpose. more

My dear friend, do you expect this government will act against this man. This is a government of the most corrupt ministers. They will ask him to give them a good donation and he will be whitewashed. Rather then he will become more corrupt and loot with both hands. Due to the patronage. more

We do nothing to change it. But how? Saying is easier than done. And it is not a one night phenomenon. It is being carrying since 1857, India's first war of Independence. Indians who were on payroll of British behaved the same way. more
