RAC needs to be 50% charge

Why should a RAC passenger bear full charge for 50% of a side lower seat? Isn't it unfair?
Once the chart is prepared, Railways must refund 50% of the fare with interest for RAC passengers. The same source of payment can be used for the refund.
Pls implement this immediately. I see many ladies and senior citizens who travel by RAC, without sleep and they pay full charge.
If any of you reading this feel that this should be implemented immediately, comment with your thoughts and share until Railways makes it a fair deal for passengers.

This is a very important issue. Why the railways should penalise citizens by charging full fare for RAC. I would even go to the extent by saying that railways should charge just the ordinary fare and not 50 % as suggested. Why should you pay 50% for just sitting in a RAC reservation. This issue must be taken up urgently and seriously with vigorous follow up for fast implementation. more

Once the chart is prepared, & the status is RAC, there is no compulsion to travel. One can cancel or file TDR for not travelling & Railways refund full amount. Only condition is that the cancellation or filing of TDR should be done 30 minutes prior to departure of the train. Travelling in RAC status, is passengers choice, not of Railways. Why should Railways refund 50% of the money? I disagree with your views. more

Rail ministry is going all wrong ways to make money. From making 10 RAC per coach to 16/20 per coach, reducing SL coaches, making BPT available only for SL/2S , and now reservation software allowing only 1 train change in long journey silently changing break journey rules to mint more money. We have been long asking RAC to be abolished starting with higher classes. Making silent fare changes in last 2-3 years, they can act on this one as well. But oh, I can make more money sentiment overshadows every activity. Even a garib rath I saw gave RAC booking now. Not sure how it works on garib rath. Maybe original coaches sold to some country and new coaches removing SMB(desired act). They should ask while booking only to start with if RAC is ok (at final charting) or WL cancellation will happen. No media highlighting these cases but only when RM states new specials and so on. more

Why at all seniors be allowed under RAC when there different quotas like VIP, Tatkal and cancellations happening. While seniors are put to pain, Tatkal booker gets lower berths sometimes even WL. Worst PRS of railways. more
