Public Health Crisis on children

We are talking about many many issues in this circle and many of the discussions of circles are being taken up for implementation.

One discussion that hasn't taken place is of the children, esp ones from middle, upper middle and upper class getting addicted to pornography.

Experts are describing children both boys and girls getting addicted to porn as a new public health crisis with a counselor saying that the youngest porn addict she has encountered is just 10-years-old. Porn addiction is being called the number one health concern of the digital age.

With plenty of gadgets around, how do we protect our next generation from this menace at such a tender age.

Can this esteemed group of informed citizens kindly debate this and take this discussion somewhere. more

This is a problem of family culture. If parents are wise this does not happen. more
Very valid point, but the solution is not there immediately. The basic precautions a parent can take is having avoided individual gadgets and encourage viewing or usage of such devices in the common hall. The reason being even if a child is playing online games, there are plenty of hyperlinks to take them to porn sites. Secondly parents should guide their children on such sites and educate on the age factors and the distraction it would bring in their education and career. When we are evolving as a digital global family and the open access to information,in that case it is purely has t be individual discretion than bringing a blanket ban. The internet is for all and by all and yes, unfortunately in the world good and evil both exists. more
Yes it is genuine concern for the present generation parents. How to address this issue? There are two ways you can tackle this issue. 1) Eliminate this porn industry from its root which is very difficult task.It is a multi billion dollar industry world wide where big wigs are involved. 2) Parents have to take proactive role for their child. They have to spend more time towards them.Doesn't matter whether the parents are qualified or illiterate rich or poor.To spend quality time with them is a must.It is not only the mother's responsibility.Fathers are equally responsible. They must curtail fun time outside and pay more attention to their child.More the child sees his or her parents are spending quality time towards them they will not depends on their friends who normally influence them for wrong things like drugs, porn and other items. more
Can the government completely stop this open source on the internet. Adults can buy what they want from stores but it should be nipped in the bud from the government so that children cannot get access to it. more
