Problem of Auto Industry
FM had said that the car sales have come down primarily due to the availability of services like “Ola’ & ‘Uber’.
On this, the TV journalists (?) who have NEVER either owned a four wheeler, or have NEVER used Ola or Uber by paying through one’s own pocket, are commenting authoritatively.
The fact, as I see is different. Knowing over a dozen IT personnel working in different multinational companies, and had been switching jobs every 5-6 years when they all used to go for a new car with the new company, and selling the old one. Now, no one buys a new car for a very different reason.
All these high value employees were also attending many meetings over dinner along with their clients, during which the consumption of alcohol was always present. Thereafter, they all had a problem for driving the vehicle back home due to fear of getting caught, even when the fines were much lesser, but the penalty for repetitiveness was higher. In such a case, they were required to take the help of a temporary driver from somewhere, whose charges were always higher.
Today, they all go for such dinner meets in Ola-Uber and return again in Ola-Uber, without any problem. And with the change in the style of working, half the time these people ‘Work from Home’. Evidently, need for owning a car for this group of people has drastically reduced, and one MUST understand, that mainly THIS was the group, due to whom the car sells were going up all these years.
Top person of Maruti appears to have dis-agreed with FM to put the entire blame on the government. May be a total Pappu supporter, not willing to accept the reality and using the situation as a tool to blame BJP led NDA government.
Some TV channel have gone ahead and asked the FM, that why are the Truck sales down? There are no Ola-Uber there. Height of dumbness and/or ignorance, or probably both, in their abilities (?) in trying to find the truth but continuing the policy of blaming the government.
The fact is that, earlier, when a truck was carrying goods, say, from Chennai to Mumbai, due to many check posts on the way, it used to take 5-6 days for this journey and similar time frame for the return journey. As a result, one single truck was in a position to make 2-3 trips at the most, in a month or about 5 trips in two months.
With the introduction of GST, all the check posts have disappeared and the return trip now takes 5-6 days. Larger transporters are saying that when they used to need a fleet of 300 trucks to carry out the business in a month, now only 100 trucks are doing the same job and 200 trucks are remaining idle.
Media is DUMB and continues to be DUMB. They all do NOT seem to have even basic knowledge for finding the reality and want to be the leading TV reporter just by blaming the government, not knowing that their carrier will then be short lived.
