Prices of Vegetables: Inputs Sought on actions

The prices of onions and many vegetables has seen a sharp rise in the last couple of months. Some time back, you participated in the LocalCircles Mood of the Consumer survey below which indicated a pessimistic outlook in terms of savings and earnings confidence levels. Today RBI has indicated the possibility of very high inflation in the coming Jan - March quarter. We seek your very specific inputs on what should be done to address this inflation in prices of vegetables.

Generally such shortages are creation of Middle man. Only way to prove them wrong is to buy smaller quantities to reduce the demand and continue to use the products. more
Generally the field produces are not Farmer friendly as it is not providing adequate reasonable income to Farmers. The price hike are due to middle man and wholesale agents .Encourage the creating FARMERS"MARKET where the Farmers directly come and sell vegetables. As regards food grains, the Govt., must create Foodgrains collection centers in each Taluks where the Farmers could bring their produces and sell to Govt authorities at profitable rate that Govt fix. The middlemen plundering could thus be reduced. more
STC operation to be extended to cover Citizen Essentials curtailing Agencies and Middlemen more
Better avoid taking big onions as it doesn't carry any food value. That is why Sathvik food doesn't give importance for big onions. But small onions has food value and medicinal value. Instead bug onions one can use cabbage and the taste doesn't differ. Big onions induce rajo buddhi that is it induce negativity in the mind.. more
Well Ms.Pratima Pillai seems to be from the Nirmala's clan who don't know what an onion is. This perhaps is the attitude of modern women who perhaps don't know their veggies either in culiniary or even its other beneficial properties. During a debate a couple of years justify the hike in taxes, a ruling party member answered that cold storages are being created to ensure that vegetables are not just seasonal but available throughout the year. And when questions are asked by common people, we have this line of defense. Shame. more
