POWERFUL AUTORICKSHAW SYNDICATE AT RAILWAY STATIONS: AN EYE-OPENER for MAJOR STATIONS IN INDIA:

Chennai Central Railway Station offers a well-organized facility where Transport buses, private vehicles, app-based cabs, and autorickshaws operate in tandem, making passenger movement to the platforms generally smooth. However, the presence of a powerful and greedy autorickshaw syndicate at the entry and exit points creates significant hurdles for travelers.

Passengers, often tired and burdened with luggage, are forced to walk out of the station premises or cross busy roads to access app-based vehicles. Many are harassed or aggressively approached by autorickshaw drivers who demand exorbitant fares — as high as ₹500 for a mere 8.8 km journey.

The Government Railway Police (a wing of the state police) is responsible for maintaining law and order within railway premises and coordinates with the city’s traffic police to ensure smooth functioning. Yet, the autorickshaw syndicates continue to operate with impunity, fleecing unsuspecting passengers at will.

This situation calls for urgent attention. Where can the common traveler turn for protection? It is time to bust this unchecked exploitation and bring relief to the millions who depend on Indian Railways every day.

Railways -- I must thank to the Indian Railways for operating many special trains for the convenience of the passengers, even have to pay more than the regular train . . But operation of these trains are horrible . From Indore to Patna , one special train is operating every Thursday at 17.15 hours. On 10th April 2025, train 09343 left Indore Right time and arrived at Patna more than 12 hours late . On 17-04-2025, this train left Indore 16 minute late and arrived at Patna at 2.30 i,e, around 8 hours late . Can the authority , will look into ? more
My experience in Kerala is the best. There the auto drivers do not demand but mostly go by the meter. Almost similar experience in Bangalore. But the whole of Tamil Nadu, the auto drivers fleece mercilessly and ruthlessly. There is no point in complaining to the police which turns a blind eye for various reasons. Yesterday, I went to a suburb of Chennai and was charged Rs 150 for 750 meters distance. Since I did not know the exact place I had to shell that amount. The Dravida model government keeps its eyes closed for these transgressions permanently. more
