Power supply situation in Gurgaon
I would like to reiterate the comments of Neel Sinha regarding the poor power situation in Gurgaon. Just to emphasize a few issues
* The overhead lines are in a weak state and small amount of rain or wind results in a breakdown.
The strengthening of the lines(particularly, the 11KV lines) can be done at minimal cost and third party can be given the contract for the same.
Even the local MLA's can be asked to share the cost from their budget.
* The system of centralized call center is not effective as it is faceless and there is considerable delay till the complaint reaches the linemen.
* The local JE's name/mobile no. should be available for public to contact directly. more

Sri Partha Banerjee Sahib, The "steel frame" that the British bequeathed us as of Aug-1947, "operates" as per its own style, loose or tight, and its getting to a point, even when some political will gets exercised, it still does whatever it wants ! How else can we explain the events in Feb-'16 in 8 towns/cities in Haryana, or the recent civil disobedience and killings of 24 people in Mathura, including the shooting of 2 Police-Officers at the head of the said district ! When the "buck is passed on" to the lowest levels managing the power lines (all under contract/s & NOT DHBVN employees), Citizens have to go by the priorities set by these very personnel! Why do you think hundreds & thousands of us Residents have spent more of our savings to get diesel operated back-up systems, that bring back the E-power within 30-40 SECONDS as and when the lights go off (for 5 minutes to 5 hours !). How can we live as if we are back in the 19 th century & at the beck and call of the new power brokers in a system that independent India has been "perfecting" -- and if not India, then Haryana State, for sure? My friend, beating of the breast and tearing of the hair, NOTHING will change here. It has been observed that there is no use of calling the JE or SDO also in case of power failure . They just answer that we will see. It seems that supply or rectification in interruption of supply of power to the residents is left to the mercy of the linemen only. more

With such high electricity rates, there should be decent quality in basic services provided by DHBVN. During rains or dust storms, breakdown/shutdown of 10 - 12 hrs is a standard practice (seems like Standard Operating Procedure being followed by DHBVN). more

At one time, the DISCOMs encouraged the use of Arial Bunched Conductors. They are not only an eyesore but also one of the contributors of perennial unreliability. It is no rocket science, but requires the political will and ultimately accountability has to stop at someones desk. more

We do not see any Power Post fixed vertically, not any of the cables fixed with any degree of skill. All public power lines look like the intestines of a patient in the operation theater. Shoddy work indeed. more
