PLASTIC BAN A BOON or BANE for JOBLESS AND WOMEN :

When the Ban came in Chennai , bang on the new year’s day some were totally prepared going to super markets with cloth bags , to hotels with containers like bottles and ever silver boxes to collect the liquid items. The ones who overlooked the suggestions and warnings from several quarters [3 months period was given] had to pay through their noses and buy these bags. In the same Swachh Circles many have suggested to impose Penalty and fines for the litterers earlier.

There was a hue and cry from some about the loss of jobs for 2,00,000 workers from the Plastic Industry. All this seem to be slowly getting rectified.

There has been a lot of initiatives from the N.G.O’s to train and imbibe the jobless and Women in skills :

* Tailoring classes- a new and useful skill to prepare the cloth bags for the time being . And the skill to go a long way in the future for these as they have ample chances to graduate into Clothes making .
*Printing skills ,
* Marketing currently done by the N.G.O’s , SOON WILL BE TAKEN OVER BY THE WOMEN THEMSELVES . May be in a years time India will have to be prepared to advance loans and make “ Make in India a big success “ .

Individual success stories – So soon Individuals have started earning Rs. 15,000 per month . This will keep growing in the coming months. The likes of Mallika, Maheswari, Rajeswary ,uma, Kokila , the list goes on and on

TAIL PIECE : Mall have started collecting PET bottles , Cans and issuing coupons for the depositors. more

Effort in right direction without clear plan leading to complete confusion and mess every where for all. Needs proper management. more
Plastic ban is slowly going to come throughout the nation. Since the governments are giving enough time the plastic manufacturing units should think of alternatives so that the employees are reemployed in some other work. more
Banning Plastic is not the right decision when the plastic waste could be recycled and transformed to other form of plastics. Mannem Nageswaraiah Dubai, UAE On Thu, 28 Feb 2019 at 12:53 pm, Jayakumar Daniel < support@localcirclesmail.com> wrote: > more
Yes ,Need not be banned if -that is a big IF - citizens could be educated on how to handle Solid Waste Management .Our efforts in a gated community of 800 Apts met with partial sucess.

A blanket ban would make people scurry for alternatives and once they understand and its ingrained in their culture to do SWC,the ban could be lifted .

UNTIL,Then ,I am afraid policy makers are right more
Even if there is big impending problem - Plastic should be banned more
