Petrol Pump Price Break up must be made mandatory
Every petrol pump in India must be mandated to publicly display the complete breakup (₹ per litre):
Base Price of Petrol/Diesel
State Taxes
Central Taxes
Dealer Commission + Hidden Charges
% of Ethanol Blending in Petrol
% of Bio-Diesel Blending in Diesel
Enough of the secrecy and manipulation. If consumers are constantly told that price hikes are to “offset global crude oil prices,” then prices must be revised daily, if not weekly, just like gold rates. And let’s be clear, crude oil hasn’t seen any major spike in the last 3 years.
Also, Petrol Pumps must offer both Pure Petrol and Ethanol-Blended Petrol separately until at least 2030, with Pure Petrol sold at current rates and Blended Petrol at a reduced price.
People deserve transparency and choice, not forced burden in the name of green fuel. more

Can't understand what the big deal is in displaying the breakup of prices. But how it will help the consumer in any way is beyond understanding. We need some fairness in taxation and probably a cap on the overall tax charged on any item. Some of these taxes are retrograde and against the ethos of a sane society. more

Yes, it's important now to a consumer to know how much tax is imposed on per litre of Petrol. Once Global market is down, still price of petrol per litre, never comes down as Govt. hike the imposition of tax to generate more revenue. This has been happening since last couple of years. Rather Union Govt. blame the state Govt. for such hike. Let the Union Govt. display the total break up to have an understanding the actual price including processing, margin, dealer's commission etc. and total tax imposed on it. That may clear the clouds. more

there is a systemic loot going on everywhere around us. At least the person who is spending his hard earned money should know where it is going. more

Good suggestion. A huge amount is collected by both State & Central Government. This is the reason Petrol & Diesel are kept out of GST. more
