Pathology ethics

I have been cheated by path labs quite a few times. Primarily by the nexus between Doctor and them in the past.

The most common one has been a few extra tests referred by Doctors, results that are wrong and have set us on the wrong course of treatment. Only to find later that none of this was needed. In one case I found the Dr. was receiving commission for the path lab work as well as medicines purchased by me.

These days I am only using brand name labs or hospital labs but still one is never sure.

What are the things one must look out for with the Doctor and Pathlabs so they don't fall into such traps. Also how do good labs ensure sample integrity when they collect from home? more

We have to get this practice some how stop. more
Please read the Article posted by me today. All Doctors take a Kick Back for Referals and ordering Diagnostic Tests. We Human Beings and particularly Senior Citizens are made Guinea Pigs and Suckers to suck our Hard earned Money for the Medical Profession which is supposed to be the Noblest of Noble Professions. We lose faith in Mankind. All Doctors have to take a Oath: "The Hippocratic Oath is an oath historically taken by physicians and other healthcare professionals swearing to practice medicine honestly." Now please read the above post of mine. Its an Eye Opener. more
Thanks Narayan. I have over the past 2 decades tried to have a balanced yet correct approach towards the Diagnostic industry and its issues. more
Thank you Dr. Gandhi. I like your approach and appreciate your response. more
It would be really sad state of affairs if the Dr. is asking for tests which are not required at all. However all Dr's receive commission from the lab in cash or kind. This system cannot be stopped as anything free is welcome by anybody.Labs of Apollo,Ranbaxy and Dr.Lal's are reliable. more
