PASSENGER AMENITIES

I think we shoud do away with the side berths in the train if not in both the AC coaches. Surely 2AC should not have side berths. Side berth space makes the coaches very congested. Moving luggage and passage way for passengers is too narrow and there is always a scuffle for space. Especially ladies have a tough time.
That will help increase the length of the regular berths which will make it easy for 3 tier sitting as well avoid dangling legs of tall people when they go to sleep.

This will help luggage management and vendor movement also easy. more

I recently visited Kanpur Railway station. It has ramps connecting all plateforms .Plz make ramps at all Railway Stations more
There should be ramps on the Raillway station stairs to move from one plateform to other plateforms. These ramps will help handicaps and also to pull suitcases/luggage up the stairs, Railway Stationat JHANSI has already made wide ramps which are widely used by passengers.Other stations should also have similar ramps more
I have seen some stations having escalators. It is a very good idea. But the escalators in NJP is in such a place that no body knows its existence?! But escalators at one platform does not solve the problem as it will be required in most of the active platforms. If this is not financial feasible for the time being, at least ramps should be created for ease of luggage handling at all platforms. It is a nightmare to see elderly people with huge luggage struggling with it. Porters take advantage of the hapless passengers and demand the sky! Bangalore City has such small ramps and stairways in the platforms 9&10, I suppose. It is very inconvenient to use it. more
