On simultaneous elections

I fail to understand.
There is no need for a discussion on this topic at all.

I am 64. Till I was in my native village, to my knowledge the elections were held simultaneously only. At least in Tamil Nadu, as I have no idea about other States.

When that was smooth, why is this being discussed now? Who is benefitted or who is loosing?

Expenses come down and citizens are benefitted.

If an election is needed in the middle, either the same must be conducted valid only for the balance period, or implementing President's rule with a committie chosen by president with all party members, with a role only to advice, but NO with POWER. more

The poll should have been on removing the power of ruling party of premature dissolution of parliament or legislature. Power to dismiss state governments also should be removed Till 1970 all polls were simultaneous. more
Yes it is a unwanted discussions. The benifit of holding simultaneous elections has been discussed two years ago in this forum It will give citizens to decide the party to rule in both central and state govt and saves a lot of public money. More electoral reforms are welcome is these days where people resign for their own reasons and force a by poll.Let the people pay for it if it is not legitimate like death ,criminal indictment, imprisonment ,ill health. more
Yes please . A P also is having simultaneous elections for MP / MLAs . Many States are different with this policy in general too leaving off the issues on Mid-day seizure of the majority . The Original policy of conducting Simultaneous Elections even when there had been no Electronic process , is not to be reinstated for better electoral conclusion of selected majority for rule . more
