No germ- theory in Ayurveda

Ayureda is based on the right balance of " space, water, air, fire and earth" in the human body. To the best of my knowledge there is no germ- theory in ayurveda as well in Unani system of medicine. Yoga is physical exercise. more

This seems to be true when we read literature on Ayurveda. At the same time, we cannot ignore surgery practiced by eminent saint physicians like Charaka, Sushruta, and others - they boiled their instruments, used herbs that would reduce inflammation and destroy infection besides increasing bodily immunity (? the balance between the mentioned 5 tatvas), and such examples. The current Jain Gurus and many disciples also cover(ed) their mouths, claiming that they would avoid killing unseen "germs". Therefore, yes, there is little mentioned in literature, so far as I have come across as a practicing Allopathy Army doctor, and with long exposure to working in large medical laboratories, but to say there was no germ theory at all may not be totally acceptable. Perhaps some of us could explore more on this, Bansi Lal ji, and enlighten readers of our views. more
